Pavel Kukhta

Pavel Kukhta is one of the brightest guitarists of Eastern Europe. He was born in 1984 in Grodno, where he has got his first musical education with prof. V. Zakharau. Having graduated from the Academy of Music in Minsk he entered the Master Course under prof. E. Gridushko. As a student he received grants from the Belarusian Ministry of Culture and from the Special President Found.

Pavel is a laureate of a number of international guitar competitions, such as: M. Pittaluga International guitar competition in Alessandria (Italy), International guitar competition dedicated to L. Brouwer in Antony (France), F. Tarrega International guitar competition in Benicassim (Spain), A. Segovia International guitar competition in Almunecar (Spain), International guitar competition in Heinsberg (Germany) and others.

In 2011 Pavel recorded a debut CD in Nordhorn, Germany (P&C Samsong Productions 2012).

Pavel’s concert activity includes performances at some guitar festivals which were held in Austria, Belarus, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia. Also he played concerts at many prestigious concerts halls, such as: Kiev’s National Philharmonic, Belarusian State Philharmonic, MIPAC and others. Pavel is an active in radio and TV programs of Belarus, Hungary, Spain, Poland and Russia.

2013 is marked by a great event in Belarusian guitar life. It is remarkable for a joint concert of two guitar players Roland Dyens and Pavel Kukhta in a Big Concert Hall of Belarusian State Philharmonic.

In addition to his career as a concert-soloist, Pavel Kukhta is a talented teacher. There are many laureates of international guitar competitions among his students at Music College. Most of them continued their musical way at the Belarusian Academy of Music.

At present Pavel Kukhta is a soloist of Belarusian State Philharmonic and he teaches at the Belarusian Music College.

  • 2005 – V "Tabula Rasa" International guitar competition (Volgograd, Russia) – 2nd prize;
  • 2006 – VI International guitar competition “Virtuosos of a Guitar” (St. Petersburg, Russia) – 3rd prize;
  • 2007 - VII International guitar competition «Virtuosos of a guitar» (St.Petersburg, Russia) – 1st prize;
  • 2007 - IX J. Duarte International guitar competition (Rust, Austria) – 1st Prize and special prize for the best interpretation of J. Duarte piece;
  • 2008 – I International competition of performers on a national instruments “Eurasia - 2008” (Yekaterinburg, Russia) – 2nd prize (1 prize was not awarded);
  • 2009 - X International guitar competition dedicated to L. Brouwer (Antony, France) – 2nd prize and Audience Choice Award;
  • 2009 - I A. Frauchi International guitar competition (Moscow, Russia) – 2nd prize (1 prize was not awarded);
  • 2009 - II International guitar competition (Kiev, Ukraine) – 3rd prize;
  • 2010 – XI International guitar competition (Belgrade, Serbia) – 3rd prize;
